If you are serious about your diet: check your food numbers

The simple truth of losing weight is that
your calorie intake must be less than your calorie output.

  • Figuring out how many calories you burn daily is the first step.
  • Caloric burn depends on your current weight, age, and level of activity.
  • The key to dieting for weight loss is to eat less than you burn, and this deficit will be taken from your stores of fat.
  • Under Tutorial, there is a list of the calories burned for various activities.
  • A small sedentary adult woman would burn about 1800 calories per day.
  • A large man exercising vigorously could burn as much as 3000 calories.
  • The best way to figure out your daily caloric burn is to check your food numbers for a week, and divide by 7. Find your average before you try to reduce it.
  • Weighing yourself daily is not recommended. Once a week is recommended, or even once a month. It simply is not as reliable as counting your caloric intake.
  • Constipation often sets in. Any laxative will work, prunes are excellent as well.
  • There are 3500 calories in one pound of fat.
  • So if you eat a 1400 calorie diet, with 60 grams of protein (which is mandatory to prevent muscle breakdown), and burn 2400 calories, you will lose a pound of fat within 3.5 days.
